Gema has more than 25 years’ experience supporting successful startups, turnaround companies, and multi-billion-dollar enterprises. She uses end-to-end supply chain management to enhance financial competitiveness and capitalizes on market and human resources opportunities to drive revenues, profits, and growth.
At Ajinomoto, Gema leads supply chain management planning and execution, enterprise data management, and sales and operations planning management.
Gema’s career accomplishments include the use of supply chain management best practices to help turn around an international company from net losses to multimillion-dollar net income in 1996; the successful management of supply chain system integrations and implementations in the food, snack, oil-based manufacturing, beverage, and pet food industries; and a record of team-building at Ajinomoto and other companies that resulted in high levels of integrity and competency with zero turnover.
Her career highlights include helping create new supply chain facilities and teams in Mexico, Argentina, and Thailand; negotiating international freight and warehousing terms; and designing and deploying customer service operations that served 80 countries with average service level rates of more than 98 percent.
Gema is a graduate of California State University in Los Angeles, Calif., where she studied international business, transportations, and import/export operations. She also holds a certification in supply chain management from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
A bilingual speaker of English and Spanish, Gema is a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals; APICS the Association for Operations Management; and the MBC Share group, as well as a Certified Pipeline Integration Facilitator for Latin America and Mentoring Program for Mars, Inc.
